B08 Automation 102 – Pre-Press Settings for Success

Learn to work with AI and other tools to create and image, modifying it, separating, choosing the halftone size, screen selection, exposure, set up and printing the design.  This workshop conducted by Dane Clement and Charlie Taublieb will take you through all of it. Dane will be working with the artists and Charlie will be working with those in production. The workshop would be useful for anyone needing an overview of the entire process including production and artwork managers and owners.  Great for beginners to experienced level printers.

Special effects printing is a powerful way to differentiate your work from the competition, with a wide range of techniques available. This session will focus on the renewed demand for puff ink, an established technique experiencing a strong resurgence, along with other impactful options such as high-density inks, gels, water-based inks, and foil finishes.

Providing universal and practical hands-on tips that can be immediately used by all skill levels on any press. Introduction/Synopsis: In a fast paced industry based around efficiency, it is increasingly more important to use every trick you can to secure your margins. There are many practical things you can begin doing today that can have a big impact on your bottom line. This course is designed to show how shops of all sizes and skill levels can be sure they are getting the most possible productivity out of the tools they have. 

Basic tips examples: - Arranging the jobs for the day to print in the most efficient order. - Recommend use of set up/break down cart. - Maximizing the use of on press consumables. (Glue, ink, cleaners, etc) - Coding of screen information to reduce miscommunication. - Balancing squeegee pressure and angles for maximum efficiency. - Choosing the proper mesh for the design to allow the press to operate faster. - Tips to prevent stopping the machine. (Fuzzballs, imperfections, flashing issues) - Increased cleanliness. Conclusion/Take away: Well defined, practical resources that can be immediately used by all skill level.
